Why You Should Consider Bamboo Flooring

Though hardwood is a popular flooring choice for many reasons, bamboo also has countless benefits worth considering for your flooring and design needs. Bamboo shares many of the same properties and price estimates as hardwood, but it derives from a type of grass, not trees, making it more eco-friendly than its counterpart.

At Diversified Flooring, we offer a wide selection of bamboo flooring, and our expert staff will be happy to explain all the advantages that this trendy natural product has going for it. Here are just some of bamboo’s many benefits to consider before choosing your next floor.

Bamboo is an attractive alternative to hardwood because it’s so environmentally friendly. The bamboo plant grows from sprouts to maturity relatively quickly and is ready for harvest in three to five years. Compare this growth process with hardwood trees, which can take at least twenty years to reach maturity!  Simply put, one acre of bamboo can provide more flooring than one acre of trees.

Bamboo is also highly renewable natural vegetation. When bamboo shoots are cut, their roots remain in place, allowing new sprouts to immediately start growing. Bamboo’s dense roots naturally prevent soil erosion and can grow in hilly areas where other crops can’t.
